Back to TopArbor Day

Each year, the Village holds a commemorative tree planting ceremony on Arbor Day, the last Friday in April.  A tree planting ceremony is held at various locations.  For the past 23 years, the Village has earned Tree City USA recognition from the National Arbor Day Foundation.

The Village celebrates its 40th Anniversary by planting 40 Red Oak Trees!Trees can lower heating and cooling costs, increase the value of your home, produce oxygen, and remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  The Village has a full-time Forestry Division which provides a Brush Pickup Program, contractual and in-house tree trimming programs, wood chip deliveries, and tree care advice.

You can read more about these programs in the Services section of our website.  Click here to go to the Public Works section.  Or you can call the Public Works Department at (630) 372-4440 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with any questions you have regarding the Village’s tree management programs.

Back to TopCOPS Day Picnic

Each year, the Hanover Park Police Department hosts a COPS Day Picnic to foster relationships between the Police Department and the neighborhoods it serves.  This free event provides entertainment, as well as various displays.  Information on the 2010 event will be posted as soon as it becomes available.

Back to TopDuPage River Sweep

Each year, The Conservation Foundation conducts its Du-Page County River Sweep. The River Sweep is a countywide clean-up which encourages citizens to improve local waterways by removing debris and litter from a section of stream or pond. The event has been held annually since 1991, and citizen volunteers have removed nearly 185 tons of garbage from DuPage County waterways. This year, the event is being held on Saturday, May 22 from 9 AM to noon.  The Environmental Committee would like to lead a group of volunteers from the Village of Hanover Park in cleaning a section of the West Branch of the DuPage River or a local pond. We are looking for individuals or groups to assist in keeping our waterways clean.  If you’re interested, please contact the Public Works Department  at (630) 372-4440 for more information or to be placed on the volunteer list.

Back to TopFire Department Open House

Each year, the Fire Department hosts an Open House which allows residents an opportunity to see a demonstration of various equipment in the Fire Department, as well as receive information on fire prevention.  Watch our website for updates on the 2010 event.
