The Hanover Park Village Brush Pickup Program will take place in October. The following are procedures for residents to follow to comply with the program.
Brush can only be set out two days prior to 7:00 am on your pick up day. Please do not put brush out after 7:00 am on the first day of your collection cycle. Hold it for the next scheduled pickup. The Village incurs considerable cost returning to an area to collect brush set out after the first day of the collection cycle. It may take more than one day to pick up all the brush in a designated area. If brush is not picked up on the first day, it will still be picked up.

October 13
Area 2: Streets north of Lake Street and east of Barrington Road

Allied Waste Services’ final yardwaste collection day is Saturday, November 29, 2008.
The Village of Hanover Park would like to remind residents that depositing leaves on public property is prohibited. Violators face a minimum $100 fine. Raking leaves into streets interferes with the Village’s street-sweeping. Large quantities of leaves in the street also increase the potential for flooding because storm sewer inlets can easily become clogged.
Hanover Park residents have three options for leaf disposal:
Create a backyard composting area where your fall leaves can gradually "ripen" and turn into rich mulch for next spring’s flower and vegetable gardens.
Mulch leaves by running them over with a lawn mower. Leaves mulched in this way can be used around shrubs.
Place leaves in a yardwaste container, attach a yardwaste sticker and leave them at the curb for pickup by BFI. If a company other than BFI collects your household refuse, contact them directly for yardwaste collection information.
We encourage you to use either the first or second option. The ever-increasing cost of disposing leaves at a landscape waste facility is greater than disposing garbage at a landfill.
Allied Waste Services’ final yardwaste collection day is Saturday, November 29, 2008.

Blood also fights infections, heals wounds and performs many other vital functions. We all need blood to survive. There is no substitute. Volunteer blood donors are the only source for people who need it.
LifeSource has informed us that all blood types are urgently needed to help return the blood supply to normal levels. Please consider giving blood on October 8th.
You can sign up in advance by calling Wendy Bednarek at (630) 372-4253 or click here to send an email.

On August 21, 2008, the Hanover Park Village Board passed a comprehensive ordinance regulating noise levels in the village limits. The noise ordinance was enacted to protect, preserve and promote the health, safety, welfare, peace, and quiet of the citizens of the Village through the reduction, control, and prevention of unreasonably loud and raucous noise.
On September 13, 2008, the Hanover Park Police Department will begin active enforcement against unreasonably loud music or noise coming from vehicles as part of the newly adopted noise ordinance. On Saturday, June 14, 2008, at 2:00 pm, the Mallard Lake Bike Trail Memorial Park located at the southeast corner of Greenbrook Boulevard and Arlington Drive will be dedicated in memory of former Village Presidents Sonya A. Crawshaw and Irwin A. Bock.
The establishment of Memorial Park was a collaborative effort between the DuPage County Forest Preserve District, IDI International, Inc., Walsh Landscape Construction, Inc., the Hanover Park Public Works Department, Boy Scout Troop No. 191, and the Eagle Scout service project of Matthew Masciola. Through the efforts of many, the park evolved into a beautiful tribute to two prior Village Presidents who dedicated many years of service to the Village. Their vision of Hanover Park was instrumental in the Village development that occurred over the years.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County owns the land parcel and approved the plan for Memorial Park. IDI International, Inc. donated 14 trees – 4 Autumn Blaze Maples, 6 Glenleven Lindens, and 4 Austrian Pine Trees. Walsh Landscape Construction, Inc. assisted with site layout and planted the 14 trees and also 5 Sargent Crab Trees. The Hanover Park Public Works Department assisted with the site plan, the preparation of the brick paver path and concrete pads, installed two benches, a flag pole, and a light for the flag pole. Matthew Masciola, as part of his Eagle Scout service project, coordinated the Boy Scouts and adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop No. 191 to prepare 3 planting beds with 10 tons of sand and 12 cubic yards of mushroom compost, planted 186 Stella D’Oro daylilies, 124 Black Eyed Susans, 26 Autumn Jazz Arrowwood Viburnum bushes, spread 9 cubic yards of mulch in the planting beds and installed a brick paver path leading to the flag pole and benches.
The public is welcome to attend the dedication ceremony event. Contact Mark Masciola at (630) 372-4212 for further information.

Hanover Park has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This is the 23rd consecutive year Hanover Park has received this national recognition.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. To become a Tree City USA, a community must have the following four standards: a tree board or department, a city tree ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program and an Arbor Day observance.
"Trees in our cities and towns help clean the air, conserve soil and water, moderate temperature and bring nature into our daily lives," said John Rosenow, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Tree City USA designation recognizes the work of elected officials, staff and citizens who plan and care for the community forest. Trees are a vital component of the infrastructure in our cities and towns, and provide environmental and economical benefits. A community, and its citizens, that recognize these benefits and provide needed care for its trees deserves recognition and thanks."
This year, the Village is planning an Arbor Day Ceremony on April 25 at 9:30 am at Elsie Johnson Elementary School. A special tree will be planted in recognition of the 25th anniversary of Elsie Johnson School and the 50th Anniversary of the Village of Hanover Park. This event is open to the public.

The driver and sole occupant of the Saab, Barbara F Grzybonski, a 37 year old resident of West Dundee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three occupants of the Nissan were transported to St Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.
Preliminary information from witnesses to the crash indicates the Saab was being driven westbound on Irving Park Road, when it turned abruptly left into the path of the Nissan, which was traveling eastbound in an eastbound lane of Irving Park Road. Blood, commonly referred as the "gift of life" truly is just that. Blood carries gases, nutrients and waste products through the body. Blood also fights infections, heals wounds and performs many other vital functions. We all need blood to survive. There is no substitute. Volunteer blood donors are the only source for people who need it.
LifeSource has informed us that all blood types are urgently needed to help return the blood supply to normal levels. Please consider giving blood on March 5th.
You can sign up in advance by calling Sandra Vincent Richard at (630) 372-4251 or via email.
