The CDC recommends face coverings when out in public.

Those with questions or concerns about COVID-19 can call the Illinois Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Hotline at (800) 889-3931 or send an email to anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For those planning to travel, visit CDC’s Coronavirus Disease Information for Travel site for the latest information.

COVID-19 Testing Sites

The Illinois Department of Human Services has produced a guide of resources published in English, Spanish, Polish, and Chinese.  They can provide resources on a range of matters, including food, shelter, and medical assistance.

Resources for Immigrants

Bilingual resource guide for immigrants/ Guía de recursos bilingües para inmigrantes

IDHS created three emergency assistance projects through the Illinois Welcoming Centers prioritizing immigrants, refugees, and Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals who have experienced a COVID-19 related hardship between March and December 2020. One of the three new resources is a housing assistance program targeted to refugees and immigrants. A full description of all three programs is below:

  • COVID-19 Housing and Utility Assistance Project: Eligible households can receive up to $5,000 or 3 months of rental, mortgage and utility assistance for unpaid bills due between March 1, 2020 and December 30, 2020. Program launched October 15 and ends December 30, 2020. 
  • COVID-19 Public Health and Health Navigator Project: Participants receive COVID specific Health Navigator trainings and can receive a Health Navigator certificate from a partnership between Alivio Medical Center and the Arturo Velasquez Institute-City Colleges of Chicago.
  • COVID-19 Employment and Training Project: Participants receive training, employment assistance and worker protection education from one of our 26 partner agencies.

United State Post Office

Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund

Governor JB Pritzker joined the United Way of Illinois and the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations today to announce the launch of the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund (ICRF), a new statewide fundraising effort to support nonprofit organizations serving those whose lives have been upended by this pandemic.


Cook County has launched a comprehensive initiative to provide economic relief independent contractors (1099 workers), among others, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schaumburg Library Live

The Federal government has announced numerous assistance programs including Economic Impact Payments (tax rebates), delayed tax filing, expanded unemployment benefits, mortgage payment relief and suspended student loan payments. Financial Educator Karen Chan will show you how to maximize the benefit you get from these options, based on your individual situation. (Sometimes, it could even mean saying, “No, thanks!”) Plus, they’ll share best practices for managing bills, debt and savings during a crisis.  Also check their YouTube Channel for other recordings.

State Park Partial Re-Opening

To allow Illinois residents to engage in outdoor activities at our state parks, Illinois is opening the following sites beginning May 1st, provided that visitors comply with social distancing guidelines and general COVID-19 best practices.
