The state of Illinois is sponsoring a temporary COVID-19 Test Site at Evangel Church at 5700 Bartels Road on Wednesday, August 19th through Friday, August 21st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Simple nasal swabs will be used. You will be called with results within 4-7 days. No cost for testing. Bring your insurance card, but you can still be tested if you don’t have insurance. Anyone can get tested! You don’t have to have symptoms or be sick.

The Cook County COVID-19 Recovery: Rental Assistance program helps suburban Cook County residents having difficulty paying their rent as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It pays up to three months of overdue or future rent. Rental payments will be sent directly to landlords by the Housing Authority of Cook County. The program is part of the Cook County Community Recovery Initiative, funded by the federal CARES Act
The application deadline is August 18, 2020.

An additional $9 million has been allocated to this program which supports DuPage County small businesses, independent contractors and nonprofits impacted by COVID-19.
In an effort to assist those impacted by COVID-19, DuPage County in conjunction with Choose DuPage is providing grants to businesses, nonprofits and 1099 workers to use for business expenses such as employee retention payroll, utilities, and rent. UPDATE: If you were previously ineligible for this grant because you received other funds intended for this purpose (i.e. PPP, EIDL) you may be eligible now. Small businesses and nonprofits with fewer than 15 full-time employees and less than $1.5 million in annual gross revenue may apply for a grant up to $15,000. Independent contractors with more than 50% of their annual gross income coming from 1099 work, and an annual gross income of less than $100,000 may apply for a grant up to $7,500. The first round of grants through the Business Interruption (BIG) program included $46 million in small business grants which has been released to 2,655 small businesses located in over 400 individual cities and spread across 78 counties.
BIG program funds were awarded to a diversity of businesses, as well as business communities hit hardest by COVID-19 related closures. A substantial portion of the BIG program is dedicated to supporting childcare providers. View the list of grant recipients online here.

When the pandemic started the Community and Economic Development Department made outreach calls and emails to every business and we’ve lessened the frequency. We know everyone is focusing on getting back to business. Please let us know how your business is doing. How are you doing?
We heard businesses needed extra signage to communicate they were open, and that many did not have an online presence with website and social media tools. The Village Board approved a Small Business Assistance Program which has provided “open” signs to over 60 businesses. And right now, marketing grants are available to our small businesses to assist in creating an on-line presence. More information is online.

A website is a key marketing tool for doing business nowadays, especially for the new generation of decision makers. In today's fast-paced world, it only takes .05 seconds for visitors to form an opinion of a website. Your website should not only attract & educate visitors about your business, but it should also convince them to DO business with you.

This year's forum will take a look at the "new normal" and topics will include marketing, moving to business online, capital resources, pivoting to new products and services, and making an online presence a top priority. Businesses need to have more than just a Facebook page, and their websites should be cell phone/mobile-responsive.

All visitors MUST wear a face covering over their mouth and nose to enter Village Facilities and practice social distancing by maintaining at least 6’ of physical separation from others. Children under the age of 18 can accompany a visitor.

The Village’s emergency declaration expired on August 6, 2020, and the suspension of water shut-off, waiving of late fees, escalation of parking tickets, and citations has ended. Code Enforcement has resumed the curb appeal program and will cite for ordinance violations.
