Upcoming Comprehensive Plan UpdateThe Village of Hanover Park is excited to announce the kick-off of the planning process to rewrite our comprehensive plan. The Hanover Park Comprehensive Plan will serve as the Village’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years. Informed by community consensus, community vision, existing conditions, and future potentials, the Comprehensive Plan will serve as a road map to the future by guiding policy decisions and helping the community achieve its long-term objectives. The Comprehensive Plan will address several topics, including land use, housing and neighborhoods, economic development, transportation and mobility, community facilities and infrastructure, and parks and open space. When completed, the Hanover Park Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community, with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input received from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders. The first community input meeting will be held on February 11th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Residents are invited to come and learn more about the comprehensive plan, as well as how they can get involved with the planning process. Stay tuned for the launch of a project website and community survey! The Village and project team look forward to working with the community in crafting a plan for Hanover Park!

Keep Your Mailbox Safe This Winter! Winter is here, and sometimes accidents happen while we’re busy clearing the roads for you. If one of our snowplows accidentally bumps into a properly installed mailbox, don’t worry! We will fix it or replace it with a standard metal mailbox on a standard wooden post. Please ensure that your mailbox is installed per the U.S. Postal Service Regulations. To help keep your mailbox safe, make sure it is the right distance from the road. The U.S. Postal Service has some handy guidelines: 1. Set it back - Place your mailbox 6 to 8 inches back from the curb. 2. Proper height - The bottom of your mailbox should be 41 to 45 inches from the ground. Want more tips on mailbox placement? Check out the USPS website! If you think a Village snowplow might have hit your mailbox, give us a call at the Public Works Department at (630) 823-5700. Let us know as soon as you notice the damage. We will set up a temporary mailbox so you can still get your mail, and then we will install a new one when the weather warms up in the spring, if it was hit by a Village plow truck and was properly installed.
