Summer Soirée was Fantastic!

Metra Ride Free the First Day of School

The first day of school just got a lot easier! On August 26, from 5:30am-8pm, K-12 students and an accompanying adult can enjoy free rides on Metra, CTA, and Pace. Metra plays a large role in our region by getting riders to the places they need to get to most, and our community can take advantage of this safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly way to get to school all year long. Metra also offers reduced fare one-way, monthly, and day passes as part of a state supported program, which are always in effect.

When purchasing a ticket, students must present a valid letter of certification from their school (on school stationery) or present a valid school I.D. bearing the student’s name, the name of their school, and authorized signature. Plus, UIC students can enjoy discounted rides on Metra and CTA all year long with the new U-Pass+.So, this year when you’re looking for a way back to school, Metra can get you there safely and on time.

Construction  Updates

2024 Project Updates:

2024 Resurfacing Project Update: This week the contractor finished placing new asphalt on the south side streets. They also finished the concrete work in the Hanoverian Estates neighborhood. Next week the contractor will remove and replace the asphalt in the Hanoverian Estate neighborhood.  Bike lane markings on Church and punch list items are the only remaining work on the north side streets. Residents who will lose driveway access due to concrete work will be notified before it starts. 

Hanover Highlands Watermain Replacement Project Update: This week the contractor continued installing new watermain on Edgebrook Lane. Next week the contractor plans to continue installing watermain on Edgebrook Lane and begin installing new watermain on Hawthorne Avenue and Westchester Drive.  In order to install the new watermain, the contractor will occasionally need the water shut off.  Residents who will be affected by the shut-off will be notified before it is shut off.
