Michael H. Coleman Youth of the Year Scholarship Named after Michael H. Coleman, a young Hanover Park resident who passed away in 2011, this scholarship program is designed to recognize and encourage excellence in the young people of Hanover Park. Students are judged on academic initiative, career initiative, leadership initiative and community initiative. Each year, a high school senior is selected as the Hanover Park "Youth of the Year." The Youth of the Year Scholarship was established by the Village of Hanover Park to honor and recognize the contributions of graduating high school students who reside in Hanover Park. Each year, Hanover Park high school seniors are invited to participate in this program. Although considered, academics are secondary to the student’s involvement in serving the Hanover Park community. The Village knows there are several ways in which youth are involved in improving both themselves and the Village of Hanover Park and acknowledge those achievements by awarding a $1,000 scholarship and four $500 runner up scholarships. For information on how to apply, visit our website. Applications are due by December 5.

Support the Food Pantry! As we head into the holiday season, we wanted to remind residents to consider donating to their local food pantry, such as the Hanover Township Food Pantry. The pantry is currently averaging 1,382 visits each month. Here are some ways you can donate: Drop off Donations Any and all donations of the “Most Needed Items” list, including pasta, cereal, soup, canned tuna, chicken, fruit or vegetables, pancake mix, white rice and paper towels are appreciated, and can be dropped off at the Food Pantry (7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park), Town Hall (250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett) or at the Township Senior Center (240 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett). Shop Online Items can also be purchased from the Township's Amazon Shopping List and sent directly to the pantry in Hanover Park. Financial Contributions Not able to shop in-person? Online ordering not for you? Financial contributions to the Township Foundation are also very helpful and give the Township increased purchasing power when buying items from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and other partners. Aldi, Target, Jewel, and Walmart Gift Cards are also accepted and appreciated. For more information about the Hanover Township Food Pantry, visit their website.
