Village of Hanover Park – Committee Information & Volunteer Application
The Village of Hanover Park relies heavily on volunteers to serve on many of their Boards, Committees and Commissions. A brief summary of the various committees and activities of each group are shown below. Any questions pertaining to any of these organizations, such as activities, etc., can be directed to the Village Manager’s Office at (630) 823-5608.

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
Members are appointed by the President and Board of Trustees. The President submits names of people who wish to serve on a committee or commission and, upon approval of the Board, appoints them to serve appropriate terms.
CULTURAL INCLUSION AND DIVERSITY COMMITTEE
The Cultural Inclusion and Diversity Committee fosters and promotes understanding, mutual respect, cooperation, and positive relations between and among all residents of the Village by creating a sense of shared community among residents and affirming the value of each resident. Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6:15 p.m.
DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
The Development Commission provides a comprehensive plan for controlled growth and development of the Village and also conducts hearings on variances, special uses, and Planned Unit Developments for zoning and building. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Members of the business community join the Village in efforts to attract and retain quality commercial and industrial business in order to increase local sales & real estate revenues, create new employment opportunities, diversify the local economy, & enhance the community’s image. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. SEPARATE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED.
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE
The Environmental Committee consists of members of the community who are focused on promoting information and programs concerning environmental issues that affect the Village, its residents, and businesses. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
HISTORICAL COMMISSION
The Historical Commission promotes educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the community by ensuring the preservation of structures and properties that represent the cultural heritage of the Village of Hanover Park and of the community prior to the Village’s incorporation. Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
SISTER CITIES COMMITTEE
The Sister City Committee fosters knowledge and understanding between the people of the Village of Hanover Park and the people of other nations’ cities. The Village of Hanover Park’s Sister City is Cape Coast Ghana, West Africa and Valparaiso, Zacatecas Mexico. Committee meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
The Special Events Committee was formed to promote Village cultural festivals, concerts, special events or other activities, to sponsor cultural activities, concerts and/or events in the name of the Village, and to recommend to the Board cultural activities, concerns and/or special events and funding.
VETERANS COMMITTEE
The Veterans Committee was formed to promote the values of those who have served their country in the military, to coordinate activities that bring merit to residents who have served their country, and to cooperate with local VFW and other groups who represent the interests of the veterans. Committee meetings are the first Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m.
