Thank you & farewell to Village Manager Maller! 

Juliana Maller has retired from the Village of Hanover Park after a distinguished 36-year career of service, in which the Village of Hanover Park has been extremely fortunate to benefit from her leadership for 13 years. Since joining the Village in 2012, she has played a pivotal role in guiding our community through growth, challenges, and countless achievements, leaving a legacy that will benefit residents for years to come.

Under Manager Maller's leadership, the Village has achieved significant milestones for the Village in economic development readiness, strong fiscal health, significant improvements to infrastructure, and overall quality of life improvements for residents. During her tenure, Juliana advanced the Village’s completion of several high profile projects, including the construction of Fire Station #16, stabilization and sale of the Hanover Square Shopping Center, development of the Village Center Plan and public improvements, design of the future I390 extension, and redesign of the MWRD Sports Complex.

As Village Manager, she has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Village’s organizational culture, foster collaboration among departments, and build strong partnerships with residents, local businesses, and regional agencies. She has led with a steady hand through times of change and challenge, always prioritizing the best interests of the community and ensuring that Village operations reflect the highest standards of public service.

Manager Maller's final day at the Village was today, January 2nd. As Juliana prepares to begin this new chapter, the Village expresses our deepest appreciation for her exemplary service and dedication to our community.


Garbage Collection

Holiday Solid Waste Collection Schedule


Due to the New Year's Day holiday, refuse collection will be tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 3.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Christmas trees will be recycled throughout the Village on Saturday, January 3, 2026, and Friday, January 9, 2026. Christmas trees picked up after these dates will need a yard waste sticker. Place your Christmas tree in the parkway and follow these guidelines: 

  • Do not put trees in plastic bags.
  • Remove the stand and all decorations, including lights, garland, tinsel, and metal (such as nails).
  • Dispose of artificial or natural wreaths in the regular household garbage.
  • Do not place artificial trees at the curb for recycling.
  • Groot Industries will collect Christmas trees with your regular garbage collection. This service will be provided to the homeowners’ associations regularly serviced by Groot.

Upcoming Water/Sewer Rate Increase

Effective January 1st, 2026, with the bill due January 21st, an increase will take place to the water rate, sewer rate and infrastructure service charge.

These increases are crucial for the Village to continue providing high-quality water services, ensuring the upkeep of infrastructure, and meeting the demands of our growing community. The adjustments have been carefully considered, keeping in mind both the sustainability of our water resources and the financial implications for our residents.

New Rates Effective January 1, 2026:

  • Water Rate: $11.15 per 1,000 gallons used
  • Cook County Sewer Rate: $2.47 per 1,000 gallons used
  • DuPage County Sewer Rate: $6.64 per 1,000 gallons used

Infrastructure Service Charge (Based on Meter Size) Effective January 1, 2026:

  • ¾-inch meter and less: $25.17/month
  • 1-inch meter: $44.80/month
  • 1.5-inch meter: $100.68/month
  • 2-inch meter: $178.95/month
  • 3-inch meter: $402.70/month
  • 4-inch meter: $715.81/month
  • Discounted rate for ¾-inch meter and less: $8.50/month
  • Discounted rate for 1-inch meter: $28.13/month

Some residents may be eligible to receive the discounted rate for the Infrastructure Service Charge.

Who is Eligible for the Service Charge Discount?

  • Residents age 65 or older; or
  • Residents enrolled in the Illinois Benefit Access Program; or
  • Residents who qualify as low income by a uniform criteria by the Township that services the residential unit can apply for a reduced service charge of $7.87 per one-month billing period.

Hire Vets

Hanover Park Receives 2025 HIRE Vets Medallion Award

U.S. Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer recognized the Village of Hanover Park as one of the 888 recipients of the 2025 HIRE Vets Medallion Award. Hanover Park is proud to have earned the Gold Award for the 6th consecutive year.   The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) Medallion Program is the only federal award program that recognizes employers who successfully recruit, hire, and retain veterans.

Mayor Craig stated, "I am so proud of this award. Hanover Park prides itself on hiring Veterans. Veterans bring so much to our workforce and serving our community."

Hanover Park joins 887 other companies from 49 states, plus the District of Columbia, who have shown a commitment to hiring veterans, but also ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service.  Hanover Park is one of only 3 municipalities in Illinois to receive this honor. 

Recipients of the 2025 HIRE Vets Medallion Award meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages; availability of veteran-specific resources; leadership programming for veterans; dedicated human resource efforts; pay compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans.

Schaumburg Township District Library - Hanover Park Branch

  • Family Storytime - Jan. 6 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Start your morning off with stories, songs, flannels and fun. This is for ages 0-5 years old with caregiver.
  • Knit & Stitch Group - Jan. 10 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Do you knit, crochet, embroider, or do some other needlecraft? This is an excellent opportunity to learn new crafts, chat with other crafters, improve your skills, and share your expertise. Bring your own supplies. Open to everyone of every skill level, no registration required.

Poplar Creek Public Library is interviewing longtime Streamwood & Hanover Park residents about their experiences living here. The interviews will be made public and shared in the library's digital history collection, found at pclib.org/history. Interviews will run from 15 to 60 minutes.
