March 28th is the Day of the Bunny!


Doggie Eggstravaganza - March 28th

Our doggie egg hunt is this Saturday from 2:00:PM - 3:00 PM. The eggs are filled with dog treats and some special golden tickets! Bring your cameras, because our special guest, the Easter Bunny, will be on hand for pictures. Pet costumes are always welcome! Pet-friendly vendors will be on hand to visit with as well. The first 50 furry friends receive a goodie bag!

Breakfast with the Bunny hosted by the Lions Club - March 28th

The Hanover Park Lions Club is hosting Breakfast with the Bunny on March 28th at the Community Center. Beginning at 8:00 AM, the Lions will be serving a buffet-style ALL YOU CAN EAT pancake breakfast. The Bunny will also be available for photos with attendees! Tickets are available for sale at the Park District for $7 dollars for those 13 years and under and $8 dollars for those 14 and older. 

The Park District will host a free egg hunt in the gymnasium during this event. For more information, visit the Park District's website.

Bunny Egg Hunt Hosted by the Hanover Park Park District

Hop on over for a fun-filled Bunny celebration for the whole family! Join the Park District for the annual Bunny Egg Hunt, featuring classic Easter eggs filled with goodies and surprises for kids to enjoy.

10:00 AM | Under 3 years with parent

10:15 AM | 4 - 6 years without parent

10:30 AM | 7 - 9 years without parent

Arlington Drive Bridge Update 

This week, crews continued work on the Arlington Drive Bridge by grading and completing aggregate base improvements for the roadway, sidewalk, and curb and gutter, in preparation for the new sidewalk and curb and gutter to be installed.

In addition to this project, the Village’s annual pavement restoration and maintenance projects will start in the coming weeks.  Be sure to keep an eye on our website for detailed project locations and updates at www.hpil.org/1234/Current-Projects.

Spring Brush Pick-up

The Village’s brush pickup program provides FREE curbside residential brush pick up and will take place in the spring and fall in accordance with the following schedule:

SPRING COLLECTION
April 6, 2026

  • Area 1 (streets north of Lake St. & west of Barrington Rd.)                                       
  • Area 2 (streets north of Lake St. & east of Barrington Rd.) 

April 20, 2026

  • Area 3 (streets south of Lake St. & north of Lawrence Ave.) 
  • Area 4 (streets south of Lawrence Avenue) 

GUIDELINES:
The Village will collect branches that are between two (2) and ten (10) feet in length. The branches must be less than eight (8) inches in diameter. 

What will not be picked up: 

  • Small hedge or pine clippings
  • Yard waste or brush in containers
  • Brush or branches with thorns
  • Stumps or tree roots
  • Unorganized or tangled brush piles 

How to stack brush:

  • Do not bundle!
  • Neatly stack the brush in one direction with the butt/cut end toward the street. 
  • Do not block access to the brush pile with your vehicle.
  • No lumber, wire, rope, construction material, or other material can be included with the brush
  • Do not block the sidewalk

Be Prepared for an Emergency: Learn CPR.  Save a Life.  

In a cardiac emergency, every minute counts. CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival. Protecting your family, your friends, and your community starts with being prepared. The Hanover Park Fire Department offers CPR training, which includes learning child and adult CPR, how to help a choking victim, and how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The next class for the general public is on Saturday, April 18th.

Save the Date for these April Events!

St. Ansgar Good Friday  Procession Road Closure - April 3, 2026

On Friday, April 3, 2026, Saint Ansgar Church will be conducting a street procession. The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. from St. Ansgar Church, located at 2040 Laurel Avenue (see the back of this letter for the exact route) Due to the street procession, the following roadways will be closed from 12:00 p.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m.:

• Laurel Avenue between Center Avenue and Church Street

• Church Street between Laurel Avenue and Maple Avenue

No parking will be allowed on the streets listed above between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Any vehicles parked on the streets listed above between these times will be relocated.

Police personnel will be assigned to intersections along the procession route to assist with traffic control. The closed roadways will be reopened as quickly as possible upon the conclusion of the procession to minimize the impact on residents.

Honoring the Journey: A Celebration of Women - April 13th

The Hanover Park Cultural Inclusion & Diversity Committee is proud to host “Honoring the Journey: A Celebration of Women” on Monday, April 13th at Village Hall 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Our keynote speaker, Congresswomen Delia C. Ramirez, will be sharing her personal journey of self-discovery, personal victory and overcoming adversity. Doors open at 5:30 PM for networking and light hors d’oeuvres. No registration is required.

Community Blood Drive - April 15th

Poplar Creek Public Library - Sonya Crawshaw Branch

Wonder About Your Water? @ Main Branch - March 2 - March 31: This exhibit, from the award-winning environmental & education non-profit SCARCE, explores the three watersheds of DuPage County, and empowers locals to think about the way they use water—and the ways that we can all help to protect that water supply together. Poplar Creek Public Library is interviewing longtime Streamwood & Hanover Park residents about their experiences living here. The interviews will be made public and shared in the library's digital history collection, found at pclib.org/history. Interviews will run from 15 to 60 minutes.
