Yard Waste Program Resumes April 3rd 

Groot Industries provides a yard waste pick-up program April 3rd through November 28th. Groot will pick up the following brush waste items:

  • Unlimited Kraft paper yard bags or personal 35-gallon containers (under 50 pounds) will be collected curbside—stickers are required for each container.
  • Bundles up to 48 inches long and up to 18 inches in diameter
  • Individual branches that do not exceed 3 1/2 inches in diameter
  • Brush that is tied with natural fiber twine
  • Bundles with a yard waste sticker attached

Spring Brush Pick-up Begins Monday

The Village’s brush pickup program provides FREE curbside residential brush pick up and will take place in the spring and fall in accordance with the following schedule:

SPRING COLLECTION
April 6, 2026

  • Area 1 (streets north of Lake St. & west of Barrington Rd.)                                       
  • Area 2 (streets north of Lake St. & east of Barrington Rd.) 

April 20, 2026

  • Area 3 (streets south of Lake St. & north of Lawrence Ave.) 
  • Area 4 (streets south of Lawrence Avenue) 

GUIDELINES:
The Village will collect branches that are between two (2) and ten (10) feet in length. The branches must be less than eight (8) inches in diameter. 

What will not be picked up: 

  • Small hedge or pine clippings
  • Yard waste or brush in containers
  • Brush or branches with thorns
  • Stumps or tree roots
  • Unorganized or tangled brush piles 

How to stack brush:

  • Do not bundle!
  • Neatly stack the brush in one direction with the butt/cut end toward the street. 
  • Do not block access to the brush pile with your vehicle.
  • No lumber, wire, rope, construction material, or other material can be included with the brush
  • Do not block the sidewalk

Be Prepared for an Emergency: Learn CPR.  Save a Life.  

In a cardiac emergency, every minute counts. CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival. Protecting your family, your friends, and your community starts with being prepared. The Hanover Park Fire Department offers CPR training, which includes learning child and adult CPR, how to help a choking victim, and how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The next class for the general public is on Saturday, April 18th.

St. Ansgar Good Friday Procession Road Closure Today

Tomorrow, Saint Ansgar Church will be conducting a street procession. The event will begin at 12:00 PM. from St. Ansgar Church, located at 2040 Laurel Avenue.Due to the street procession, the following roadways will be closed from 12:00 PM until approximately 3:00 PM:

  • Laurel Avenue between Center Avenue and Church Street
  • Church Street between Laurel Avenue and Maple Avenue

No parking will be allowed on the streets listed above between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Any vehicles parked on the streets listed above between these times will be relocated.

Police personnel will be assigned to intersections along the procession route to assist with traffic control. The closed roadways will be reopened as quickly as possible upon the conclusion of the procession to minimize the impact on residents.

Hanover Park Historic Committee Archiving Event - April 11th

join the Historic Committee at our Village Hall on April 11th 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM to organize over 65 years of historical documents. By volunteering for an hour or two, you can help preserve Hanover Park's history. Register by scanning the QR code in the flyer or by visiting www.hpil.org/archivingevent.

The Hanover Park Cultural Inclusion & Diversity Committee is proud to host “Honoring the Journey: A Celebration of Women” on Monday, April 13th at Village Hall 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Our keynote speaker, Congresswomen Delia C. Ramirez, will be sharing her personal journey of self-discovery, personal victory and overcoming adversity. Doors open at 5:30 PM for networking and light hors d’oeuvres. No registration is required.

Community Blood Drive - April 15th

On Wednesday April 15th, Vitalant staff will be present in the Village Hall parking lot with the Bloodmobile, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, appointments preferred. All donors will receive a Culver's "Pint for a Pint" voucher and will be entered for a chance to win one of two $10,000 egift cards!

DuPage River Sweep - April 18th

Join the Environmental Committee in keeping our rivers clean! Help remove debris from the riverbank between Arlington Drive and Lake Street. Wear waterproof boots, gloves, and work clothes.

Voter Information with the League of Women Voters - April 7 5:30 PM -7:30 PM:
The League of Women Voters will be at the Hanover Park Branch to help patrons find the information they need to be an informed voter. The League of Women Voters encourages informed and active participation in government and will help you see what's on your ballot, check your registration, find your polling place, and more!

Crafternoon: Spinning Paper Earth - April 8 3:30 PM - 4:15 PM: Drop in to make a spinning Earth craft; while supplies last. For ages 5 to 12 years old.

Drop In Social Services Office Hours - April 11 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM: A licensed social worker will be available during scheduled office hours to assist community members in need of guidance and resources. Whether you’re looking for short-term help or need assistance navigating long-term support options, the social worker is here to help.

Take & Make Craft @ Main Branch - April 1 - April 30: Visit the library to make your own crepe paper flower. Make a flower that needs no watering. While supplies last. Pick this Take & Make up from Studio1405 in the lower level of the library.

Pokemon Party @ Main Branch - April 6 3:30PM - 4:15 PM: Get ready for our Poké Palooza with some poké-perfect crafts and games. Please register children only, not adults. Visit the library's website to register.

Feature Film Saturday Matinee @ Main Branch - April 11 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Join the library for a Saturday Matinee to watch the movie, Zootopia 2. Bring your own snacks. All ages are welcome. This movie is rated PG with a 108 minute runtime.

Streamwood & Hanover Park Stories: A Community Oral History Project

Poplar Creek Public Library is interviewing longtime Streamwood & Hanover Park residents about their experiences living here. The interviews will be made public and shared in the library's digital history collection, found at pclib.org/history. Interviews will run from 15 to 60 minutes.
