Honoring the Journey: A Celebration of Women Event Next Monday, April 13thThe Hanover Park Cultural Inclusion & Diversity Committee is proud to host “Honoring the Journey: A Celebration of Women” on Monday, April 13th at Village Hall from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. Our keynote speaker, Congresswomen Delia C. Ramirez, will be sharing her personal journey of self-discovery, personal victory and overcoming adversity. Doors open at 5:30 PM for networking and light hors d’oeuvres. No registration is required. This event is belatedly celebrating Women's History Month. Groot Yard Waste Pick-Up ProgramGroot Industries provides a yard waste pick-up program April 3rd through November 28th. Groot will pick up the following brush waste items: - Unlimited Kraft paper yard bags or personal 35-gallon containers (under 50 pounds) will be collected curbside—stickers are required for each container.
- Bundles up to 48 inches long and up to 18 inches in diameter
- Individual branches that do not exceed 3 1/2 inches in diameter
- Brush that is tied with natural fiber twine
- Bundles with a yard waste sticker attached

Spring Brush Pick-up ContinuesThe Village’s brush pickup program provides FREE curbside residential brush pick up and will take place in the spring and fall. Area 3 & 4 will be picked up beginning on April 20th. SPRING COLLECTION - Area 3 (South of Lake St & north of Lawrence Ave): Collection begins the week of April 20. Please have all materials at the curb by 7:00 AM on Monday.

GUIDELINES: The Village will collect branches that are between two (2) and ten (10) feet in length. The branches must be less than eight (8) inches in diameter. What will not be picked up: - Small hedge or pine clippings
- Yard waste or brush in containers
- Brush or branches with thorns
- Stumps or tree roots
- Unorganized or tangled brush piles
How to stack brush: - Do not bundle!
- Neatly stack the brush in one direction with the butt/cut end toward the street.
- Do not block access to the brush pile with your vehicle.
- No lumber, wire, rope, construction material, or other material can be included with the brush
- Do not block the sidewalk

Lake Street Multi-Use Path Construction Begins in Upcoming WeeksConstruction is anticipated to begin in the upcoming weeks. Once it begins, we will provide temporary road closure updates on our website & Facebook page. Project Overview - Project Location: Lake Street from the Metra Station to Gary Avenue
- Project Description: Install a new multi-use path between existing bicycle paths to provide a continuous path to the Metra Station.
- Primary Goal: To provide continuous non-vehicular access to the Metra and Pace and improve safety by eliminating gaps in the multi-use path network.
- Impact: Temporary lane closures will likely occur during construction operations.
- Anticipated Start Date: Spring 2026
- The Village received a $1.37 million federal Surface Transportation Program grant for this project!

Be Prepared for an Emergency: Learn CPR. Save a Life. In a cardiac emergency, every minute counts. CPR can double or even triple the chance of survival. Protecting your family, your friends, and your community starts with being prepared. The Hanover Park Fire Department offers CPR training, which includes learning child and adult CPR, how to help a choking victim, and how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
