On May 9, 2012, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association named Hanover Park Fire Department Fire Chief Craig A. Haigh as their Fire Chief of the Year for 2012.
The I.F.C.A. Fire Chief of the Year award recognizes the accomplishments of Illinois fire chiefs in the areas of Public Education and Life Safety Advancements, Innovative and Entrepreneurial Efforts and Accomplishments, Education Public-Private Sector Contributions and contributions at the local, state and national levels.
