How To Identify A Census Worker

Here are some ways you can verify an individual is a Census Bureau employee:

  • The census taker or field representative will present an ID badge that includes:

    • their name,

    • their photograph,

    • a Department of Commerce watermark, and

    • an expiration date.

  • They will have an official bag and Census Bureau-issued electronic device, such as a laptop or smartphone, bearing the Census Bureau logo.

  • Census takers and field representatives will conduct their work between the hours of 9am and 9pm, local time.

  • Census representatives will be at local organizations and community events with computer tablets to help individuals respond online to the 2020 Census.

The best way to avoid being visited at home by a census taker, or enumerator, is to complete the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.

We must make sure that you and everyone in our community is counted. Respond online at  www.my2020census.gov.

$150 Million in Emergency Mortgage Assistance Assistance

Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program

Available August 24, 2020, the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (EMA) will assist homeowners who have experienced a COVID-19-related loss of income resulting in past due mortgage balances sometime after March 2020. Approved applicants will receive up to $15,000 paid directly to their mortgage servicer.

Assistance will cover the homeowner’s past due or forbearance balance and their regular mortgage payments through December 30, 2020, or until the funding is exhausted, whichever comes first. Payments may include all escrowed first mortgage expenses including property taxes, insurance and certain fees. The assistance will be in the form of a grant and repayment will not be required. Applications for EMA will be accepted from August 24th through September 4th. Due to anticipated high volume, the application window may close early. IHDA will use a third-party entity to select a pool of applications to be reviewed for eligibility. The program is expected to assist approximately 10,000 households. Apply online at: ema.ihda.org.  How To Apply in Spanish

Homeowner Eligibility:

• Household adjusted gross income from 2019 Tax Return was at or below 120 percent of the Area Median Income;
• An adult member of the household has had a loss of income due to the COVID-19 crisis on or after March 1, 2020;
• Homeowner’s mortgage was current through February 29, 2020; and
• The mortgage is past due or in forbearance.
Financial assistance from the EMA program is funded through Illinois’ allocation of federal Coronavirus Relief Funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (P.L. 116-136). Passed in March 2020, the CARES Act provided $3.5 billion in Coronavirus Relief Funds to the State of Illinois to help residents and businesses impacted by the pandemic. In May, the Illinois General Assembly directed $396 million of this funding to IHDA to provide direct assistance to struggling renters and homeowners. The funding must be completely distributed by December 30, 2020.

drive sober or get pulled over

This Labor Day, Remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

“No Excuses,” says Hanover Park Police Department

As Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer near, Hanover Park Police Department is partnering with law enforcement throughout the state to stop impaired driving and help save lives.

“While celebrations marking the last days of summer may look different this year than in times past, the potential remains for an increase in the number of impaired drivers on the roads,” said Deputy Chief Terrence Sherrill. “Impaired driving kills more than 10,000 people in the United States each year. Please plan ahead for a safe ride home before you leave the house. It truly is a matter of life or death.”

The high-visibility “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign runs from Aug. 20 through the early-morning hours of Sept. 8. During this period, motorists in Hanover Park can expect to see stepped-up impaired driving patrols and seat-belt enforcement, particularly at night when seat-belt usage rates are at their lowest. Speeders and distracted drivers should also be aware.

If you’re celebrating this Labor Day, remember to designate a sober driver and don’t let friends or family members drive drunk. Even a small amount of alcohol can impair judgment and reaction times, making driving unsafe.

This #LaborDay & every day, make the smart choice to #DriveSober. #LifeorDeathIllinois
