The Village of Hanover Park takes pride in being America’s Global Village, and we are thrilled to act as a community partner with College of DuPage’s Cleve Carne Museum of Art to promote the “Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: the Floating World” exhibit. The Village has partnered with the Schaumburg Township District Library - Hanover Park Branch and the Hanover Park Park District this summer to host events celebrating this exhibit!
Join the Hanover Park Branch Library on June 6th at 2:30PM for a Mini Japanese Art Expo to learn about the art of Japanese calligraphy with your name written in Katakana characters, create a woodblock print to take home, and participate in a community coloring project to celebrate Hokusai's The Great Wave Off Kanagawa. For more information, visit www.schaumburglibrary.org.
On June 24th, join us at 5:30PM in Ontarioville Plaza to unveil our ukiyo-e style mural created by Naperville artist Rich Lo. This free event will include a traditional Japanese drumming performance and demonstrative lecture with Japanese classical dance. Visit www.hpil.org for more information.
Discover the magic of origami with Hanover Park Park District and CHAOS Origami Group on July 11th at 6:00PM in the Community Center. This free hands-on workshop is designed for all skill levels, offering step-by-step guidance to transform simple sheets of paper into stunning works of art.
