Saturday, October 25, 2025 is the DEA's National Drug Takeback Day. The Kenneth Young Center will be at the Hanover Park Police Department from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to collect unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications and to share information about substance use disorder, prevention, and treatment options.
Flushing medicines down the toilet or pouring them down the sink can create the potential for harmful chemicals to end up in our waterways. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands, which can lead to medication misuse or the beginning of opioid addiction. Opioid overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S. That's why Drug Take Back Day is a great opportunity to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn in, safely and anonymously, all your expired and unneeded medications.
If you are unable to make it to the Police Department on October 25th, don't worry. We have a drug take-back box in our lobby that is available from 8:00am to midnight every day for your convenience.
