Licenses & Permits
No person, firm, or corporation shall conduct, engage in, or maintain, operate, carry on, or manage any commercial establishment or activity either by himself or itself, or through an agent, employee, or partner, without first having obtained a license for such activity or commercial establishment. Chapter 58 of the municipal code is designed to provide for the means whereby the village may render the necessary inspections and services to commercial establishments and commercial activities in order to promote, protect, and safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare of the residents and consumers of the village and to enable the effecting of an accurate record of commercial establishments located and carrying on commercial activities or commerce within the village.
Whether commercial or residential, no person shall install, operate or maintain a signaling device over a signal line to the monitoring system at the police department or to a privately operated central station, without first obtaining an annual permit. Chapter 78 Article V
It shall be unlawful for any person 18 years of age or older to engage in peddling or solicitation activities within the village without first obtaining a permit issued by the village clerk; unless, they are exempted from the provisions of Chapter 58 Article IX.
The soliciting agency shall be registered with the attorney general as a charitable organization as provided by the Solicitation for Charity Act (225 ILCS 460/0.01 et seq.) and engaged in a statewide fund-raising activity.
"NO SOLICITATION" LIST
The Clerk's Office will maintain a "No Solicitation" list of those persons who request to restrict solicitation on their property by canvassers, peddlers, and solicitors. If an exempt canvasser chooses not to apply for an identification card, it will be the responsibility of that canvasser to obtain a copy of the "No Solicitation" list.
It shall be unlawful to set up or promote any raffle or sell, offer for sale or transfer any ticket or share for any raffle within the village without first having secured a raffle license therefor as provided in Chapter 58 Article XVII.
