Fire Department Accomplishments & Goals

2025 Accomplishments

  • Continuous testing and recruitment for full-time and part-time firefighters.
  • Replace/Upgrade key technical equipment and firefighting protective gear to ensure safety for the firefighters.
  • Improve the use of software for the plan review process to make the overall process more efficient.
  • Completed a 25-hour Introduction to the Fire Service program for high school students as part of the Alignment Collaborative for Education's First Responder Internship Program.
  • Update and expand the Village's Disaster Recovery Plan.  This plan is used to identify essential functions that need to be prioritized within a municipality after a large-scale disaster or disruption in services.

2026 Goals

The Hanover Park Fire Department goals for 2026 include:

  • Implement a Village Smoke Detector program that includes quarterly district installations and targeted canvassing of areas following structure fires or identification of insufficient smoke detector coverage.
  • Continue replacement program for firefighting protective gear, technical rescue equipment and EMS equipment that have come to the end of their service life.
  • Complete a review and analysis of ambulance and fire billing procedures and rates.
  • Maintain the Introduction to the Fire Service program with the Alignment Collaborative for Education's First Responder Internship Program.
